Al Henderson was the 1976 Olympic Archery Coach and is an international shooting consultant. He has a unique ability to express ideas in a way that can be understood because he keeps things simple. This book deals primarily with the most important aspects of improving your shooting; your self image and mental discipline. Also addressed are stance, draw, correct breathing, etc.; that is to say the physical aspects of shooting. But by far the most important is your mental approach. You have heard that "practice makes perfect." Henderson maintains that is not true. Practice makes permanent. A flaw can creep into your shooting and without a model, a paradigm, it is difficult to diagnose or even to recognize. This flaw could be psychological, physical or in your equipment. This book gives the reader a way to approach the sport that is sensible and easy to understand. Perfect practice makes perfect. Henderson also stresses the importance of having a teacher or coach. He states 100% of the top archers have a coach. This book can also teach you methods to win. And winning has its own set of challenges to overcome, which he also addresses. This book is the text I teach with. If you read it and apply the techniques you will not only improve your scores. You will learn to win, if that is your goal.
