A recent event that occurred in Lionsgate led me to the idea of managing archer's performances. I have had the pleasure this year of coaching a dedicated new archer who began the year shooting Royal Rounds at 40 points and ended at 82. I monitored his shooting carefully (as I collect all the scores) and each time he leveled out I had him shoot IKACs so he would end up with the highest IKAC possible. With almost no time left in the season, we managed to get one final IKAC in and he shot a 222 (beat me by 20 points).
I think that this idea of catching the archers while they appear to peak will increase the archery scores your areas. As well, the interest you show in the archers performance will as well increase their interest and hopefully their scores.
Here's something else we found working well this year in Lionsgate. At the beginning of each shoot, the archers are shown their standings for the year (top three scores). This permits them to set a short term goal at the start of each shoot, usually to eliminate their lowest score of the three.
Since we have begun this there has yet to be a evening's shoot go by that at least half the archers advance their averages. Last night one of them not only beat the low score but shot 10 points higher than his previous personal best - from 64 to 74.
